About the Domestic
The Domestic Shorthair (and its longhaired counterpart) is not a formal breed but rather the mixed-breed cat that makes up the vast majority of pet cats worldwide. Genetically diverse, they come in every color, coat pattern, and personality — from playful and outgoing to calm and reserved. Generally hardy, healthy, and adaptable, they are the friendly, everyday cat you meet in shelters and homes.
